Image
James is back in England and ready to start his adventures as a University student. We have been so thankful and grateful to the time he has given My Fathers House, in Olinda. Without volunteers and supporters like James, there is no way that such work could continue. So, thank you for giving the work your time James, and for allowing offering your skills, time and your prayers to the work! If you want to volunteer like James, you can inquire by emailing admin@serviceofhope.org. We would love to hear from you, where-ever you are in the World.  In the meantime, read on to find out about his new journey and how successful he was with speaking Portuguese to those he worked with! Brazil - final post! After two months I have safely arrived back in England! In my last month I continued to do more construction work on aguazinha as well as spend more time with the boys, but my final week was definitely the busiest. My last week in Brazil included a trip out with the bo

One month in, James gave us an update based on his experiences of volunteering My Fathers House in Olinda. He has been kept busy, but has had an inspiring time and has not only given lots of his skills and time to the community, but has also gained much from the experience. Read on to find out what he has to say. My Time in Brazil - One Month In What a month! I have been busy almost every day, splitting my time between the My Father's House in the day and the church most nights. The first three weeks I spent with my weekdays at Cida's and the boy's house, and then my weekends with Rafael and at the church. Service of Hope works closely with our projects to provide volunteers for those we support. It is common for individuals wanting to make a difference to those in Brazil to volunteer with our project My Fathers House. We wanted to share with you a little more about what this might include, and thought the best way to do this is to let one of our volunteers share their own experience. We will follow James' volunteer journey with My Fathers House over the next couple of months. In Part one, James (from York) shares a little about why he wanted to volunteer with us, and the process we took him through: About me My name is James (known to my friends as Jam) and I am 19 years old. I am currently on my gap year and wanted to get involved as a volunteer in a project I cared about. In September I will be going to University in Southampton! Why Brazil? When I heard about the work My Father’s House and the church ´Agua Viva` was doing, I knew I had to get involved.

Service of Hope has a revamp! As part of our growth and development, we have revamped how we communicate to our supporters. We have increased our online presence, with a new website , (where you can also find our newsletter sign up form ), a new Facebook  so that you can like us and be part of a community helping to support our needs, a new youtube   so that you can see what our projects in Brazil are up to, and now a new blog, which we hope will make it easier to follow our newsletters. Just in case you still can't find us online, here's a brief explanation of who we are and what we do: Service of Hope is a UK charity with the Christian objectives of supporting projects in the North East of Brazil working with vulnerable groups. The key project we are currently supporting in the Olinda area of Brazil, is called My Fathers House (Casa de Meu Pai). This project is based out of an Anglican church in the area of Aguazinha, where they work with some of the most vulnerable
